ignorance

i was warned
that ignorance
was like a
green snake.
though my garden
was kept tidy
for years before,
i was left with
bites and
broken soil
because of ignorance.
i was stuck with
watering eyes
and lumps of pain
too deep
in my throat
for me
to ever swallow it down.
